Global Survey Shows High Hopes for BRICS in Reviving World Economy

Amid global economic volatility and a weakened recovery, the BRICS nations are emerging as a beacon of hope for many around the world. According to a recent survey conducted by CGTN targeting global netizens, an overwhelming majority believe that the BRICS cooperation mechanism could inject much-needed momentum into the struggling world economy and complex global governance.

BRICS, born from the rising cooperation among emerging market economies and developing countries, has evolved over the years into a multi-level, multi-faceted, and comprehensive cooperation framework. Through initiatives such as the New Development Bank and contingency reserve arrangements, BRICS has extended development benefits and opportunities to a wide range of developing countries.

The survey results are telling: 92.87% of respondents believe that this mechanism promotes cooperation among the Global South, while 94.2% feel that the influence of the BRICS cooperation mechanism is continuously expanding. Moreover, 94.1% of participants expressed that, as a multilateral cooperation mechanism comprised of emerging economies, BRICS countries can inject more momentum into the recovery of the world economy.

As the 2024 BRICS summit approaches, these findings underscore the global community’s expectations for BRICS to play a pivotal role in addressing economic challenges and fostering collaborative growth.
