Jakarta, Indonesia — Chinese Vice President Han Zheng affirmed China’s commitment to deepen strategic mutual trust and enhance mutually beneficial cooperation with Indonesia during a meeting with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Sunday.
Visiting as President Xi Jinping’s special representative, Han Zheng attended President Prabowo’s inauguration ceremony in Jakarta. During their meeting, Han conveyed President Xi’s congratulations and highlighted the significance of President Prabowo’s visit to China following his election victory, noting it demonstrated his deep affection and profound friendship towards China.
Han remarked that President Prabowo’s focus on key priorities such as food security and poverty reduction in his inaugural address aligns closely with the people-centered development approach advocated by President Xi. He expressed confidence that under President Prabowo’s leadership, Indonesia will achieve further progress in national development.
“China is willing to work with Indonesia to follow the strategic guidance of our two heads of state,” Han stated. “Together, we can elevate the China-Indonesia community with a shared future to new heights and contribute to regional peace and stability while promoting global development and prosperity.”
Han proposed three key areas for the next phase of China-Indonesia relations:
- Strengthening high-level strategic mutual trust and continuing mutual support on each other’s core interests and major concerns.
- Deepening comprehensive, mutually beneficial cooperation to bring tangible benefits to the people of both countries.
- Enhancing international collaboration to promote the development of global governance in a more just and reasonable direction.
President Prabowo expressed his appreciation for China’s support, emphasizing that China, as a major global country, is a key partner for Indonesia. He reaffirmed the new Indonesian government’s commitment to further developing relations with China and continuing the friendly policies established by former President Joko Widodo.
“Indonesia is willing to deepen mutual support and mutually beneficial cooperation between our two nations,” President Prabowo stated. “We aim to strengthen coordination on international and regional affairs and promote greater development of our bilateral relations.”
The meeting underscores the growing importance of the China-Indonesia partnership in fostering economic growth, regional stability, and collaborative efforts on global challenges.
