Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Friday that Russia is actively engaging with both Israeli and Palestinian authorities amid the ongoing conflict in the region.
Speaking at a meeting with the heads of leading media outlets from BRICS countries, Putin emphasized Russia’s commitment to fostering dialogue between the two sides. “We are in contact with both Israel and Palestine,” he stated, underscoring the importance of open communication in seeking a resolution.
Putin reaffirmed Russia’s support for a two-state solution as the foundation for lasting peace between Israel and Palestine. He revealed that this critical issue will be a key topic at the upcoming 16th BRICS Summit, scheduled to take place from October 22 to 24 in Kazan, Russia.
“The conflict between Israel and Palestine is of significant concern to the international community,” Putin said. “We believe that the BRICS Summit provides a valuable platform for discussing pathways to peace.”
In a move highlighting Russia’s diplomatic efforts, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has been invited to participate in the summit. This invitation signals Russia’s intent to involve key regional leaders in the dialogue aimed at resolving longstanding tensions.
The BRICS Summit, bringing together leaders from Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, is expected to address various pressing global issues, with the Middle East peace process now taking center stage.
