Eight Dead After Oil Vessel Fire in Southern Myanmar’s Dawei Port

Eight people have lost their lives and three others were injured after a fire erupted on an oil vessel in Myanmar’s southern Taninthayi Region. The tragic incident occurred at 4:34 p.m. local time on Monday at a port in Dawei Township, as reported by the local fire service department.

The blaze started when an oil tanker was refilling another oil storage vessel, leading to the storage vessel catching fire. Firefighters worked tirelessly, and the fire was fully extinguished by early Tuesday morning. However, one male remains unaccounted for.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire. This incident has deeply affected the local community, raising concerns about safety protocols at port facilities.
