A Chinese mainland spokesperson on Thursday declared that no one or force can stop China's reunification, condemning recent separatist remarks made by Taiwan leader Lai Ching-te.
Chen Binhua, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, made the comments in response to Lai's speech in Taipei on October 10, which contained references to cross-Strait ties.
Chen emphasized that Lai's actions are escalating tensions across the Taiwan Strait, undermining peace and stability in the region. He reiterated the mainland's firm stance against any form of separatism and warned that attempts to divide China would be firmly opposed.
The spokesperson called on the Taiwan authorities to adhere to the one-China principle and engage in constructive dialogue to improve cross-Strait relations. He affirmed the mainland's commitment to peaceful reunification while cautioning against provocative activities.
