Chongqing Enhances Qiansimen Bridge Viewpoint with Major Accessibility Upgrades

Chongqing's iconic Qiansimen Bridge, a magnet for tourists and commuters alike, is undergoing transformative upgrades this year to improve accessibility and visitor experiences. The city government announced on April 7, 2026, that new escalators will directly connect the Hongyadong cultural district to the bridge's viewing terrace, while a redesigned loop road aims to alleviate chronic traffic congestion in the bustling riverfront area.

The project includes a seamless link to Level 4 of the Hongyadong complex, allowing visitors to transition effortlessly between cultural attractions and panoramic views of the Jialing River. City planners emphasize that the upgrades balance practical commuting needs with tourism development, reflecting Chongqing's dual role as both a working metropolis and a rising global destination.

"These improvements demonstrate our commitment to urban infrastructure that serves residents and welcomes visitors," said a municipal spokesperson. The enhancements come as Chongqing reports a 22% year-on-year increase in tourism during the first quarter of 2026, with infrastructure investments playing a key role in supporting sustainable growth.
