Chemical Plant Fire in Southern Israel Contained After Missile Debris Incident

A major fire erupted at an industrial complex in southern Israel's Neot Hovav area on Sunday, with authorities attributing the blaze to debris from intercepted missiles. The site, located 13 km from Beersheba and near multiple military installations, houses several chemical production facilities.

Israel's Fire and Rescue Service deployed 34 teams to combat the flames as environmental officials monitored air quality. While initial warnings urged residents to avoid the area due to hazardous materials risks, Environmental Protection Minister Idit Silman later confirmed: "No concern was found for a hazardous materials incident or risk to the public" after containment.

The incident highlights ongoing regional tensions while underscoring industrial safety challenges in strategic zones. No casualties were reported, though the event temporarily disrupted local transportation routes.
