Liuzhai Village: From Poverty to Rural Revitalization Model in Shanxi

Liuzhai Village, once a poverty-stricken community in northern China's Shanxi Province, has emerged as a beacon of rural revitalization through strategic policies and relentless effort. The transformation was highlighted by Cheng Yuzhen, a member of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), during the Members' Corridor event on March 11, 2026.

Cheng shared the village's journey at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, ahead of the closing meeting of the fourth session of the 14th CPPCC National Committee. Located in Huguan County, Changzhi City, Liuzhai leveraged government-backed initiatives to boost agricultural productivity, develop local industries, and improve infrastructure. Its success now serves as a blueprint for other rural areas across the Chinese mainland.

The story underscores China's broader push to bridge urban-rural development gaps, with the CPPCC playing a pivotal role in shaping policies that prioritize sustainable growth and community empowerment. Academics and investors alike are monitoring such cases for insights into scalable solutions for Asia's evolving economic landscape.
