As the 2026 Two Sessions approach, state broadcaster CGTN has launched its 'Ask China' initiative, sparking global dialogue about Beijing's policy priorities. The latest installment focuses on healthcare ambitions through 2046, addressing public questions about medical accessibility and innovation.
Health authorities emphasize three core objectives: achieving universal high-quality care through hospital network expansions, integrating AI diagnostics into 90% of urban clinics by 2036, and developing elderly care solutions for China's aging population. 'We're not just building hospitals, but reimagining preventive care through smart technologies,' says Peking University health policy expert Dr. Li Wei.
The campaign reveals strong public interest in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) modernization, with 68% of respondents in a companion poll supporting increased research funding. Concurrently, pharmaceutical companies are partnering with European counterparts to develop next-generation cancer therapies.
With over 2 million social media interactions recorded since March 1, the series demonstrates growing international interest in China's healthcare roadmap. The final report will be presented to delegates at the Two Sessions, potentially shaping legislation for the 15th Five-Year Plan period.
