U.S. ‘Israel-First’ Policy Aims for Regional Control, Analyst Claims

Tehran University professor Seyed Mohammad Marandi has accused the United States of pursuing an "Israel-first" strategy in West Asia, alleging that Washington seeks joint control with Israel over the region’s resources and strategic corridors. In a recent analysis, Marandi highlighted remarks by the U.S. ambassador to Israel as evidence of an "unofficial policy" endorsing Israeli dominance across West Asia and parts of North Africa.

Marandi argued that former President Donald Trump’s administration and the current U.S. Congress remain aligned in prioritizing Israel’s interests, framing this alignment as part of a broader objective to secure influence over oil, gas reserves, and the Persian Gulf. "The end goal is a power-sharing arrangement that consolidates U.S.-Israeli hegemony," he stated, emphasizing concerns over regional sovereignty and resource access.

His comments come amid heightened tensions in West Asia, where energy security and maritime chokepoints remain critical to global markets. Analysts note that such critiques reflect growing debates over Washington’s role in shaping the region’s geopolitical future.
