Evacuations Surge at Armenia-Iran Border Amid Rising Regional Tensions

Growing security concerns in Iran have triggered a wave of evacuations through the Armenia-Iran border this week, with tourists and business travelers rushing to depart following reported U.S.-Israeli military actions. Chinese businessman Wang Zhongyang, who was visiting Tehran for trade negotiations, described hearing sustained gunfire and explosions that forced him to abandon his trip. "The situation deteriorated rapidly," he said. "Local authorities advised foreigners to leave immediately."

Canadian visitor Mo Aghazadeh recounted witnessing explosions near his temporary residence in the city, condemning the attacks as "unjustified and devastating to civilians." Cross-border movement has intensified since March 1, with Armenian officials confirming increased processing of evacuation requests. Analysts warn the escalation could further destabilize regional trade routes critical to Eurasian energy markets.
