China Condemns U.S.-Israeli Strikes on Iran as ‘Shocking’ at UN Meeting

China has strongly criticized recent military actions against Iran during an emergency UN Security Council session held yesterday. The Chinese mainland's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Fu Cong, called the joint U.S.-Israeli strikes "shocking" and counterproductive to ongoing diplomatic efforts.

The February 28 attacks occurred amid active negotiations between regional parties, with Fu emphasizing that "Iran's sovereignty and territorial integrity must be fully respected." The Chinese representative urged immediate cessation of military operations, warning that such actions risk destabilizing the entire Middle East.

"Political dialogue remains the only sustainable solution to international disputes," Fu stated, reaffirming China's position against the use of force in resolving conflicts. The remarks come as global energy markets show increased volatility, with analysts warning of potential economic ripple effects across Asia.

Beijing's intervention highlights its growing role as a stabilizing force in multilateral diplomacy, particularly in conflicts affecting strategic trade routes and energy supplies crucial to Asian economies. Observers note this development could influence upcoming negotiations on regional security frameworks and nuclear non-proliferation efforts.
