Seychelles President Patrick Herminie emphasized the growing importance of China's global development strategies during a recent episode of Leaders Talk, a program produced by China Media Group (CMG). In his conversation with CMG journalist He Yanke, Herminie described China's international initiatives as "very important" for addressing contemporary challenges through multilateral cooperation.
The island nation's leader highlighted how China's focus on infrastructure development, climate resilience, and technological partnerships aligns with Seychelles' priorities for sustainable growth. "These initiatives create frameworks for nations to collaborate beyond traditional geopolitical boundaries," Herminie stated, noting strengthened bilateral ties since the Chinese mainland increased investments in maritime conservation projects across the Indian Ocean region.
Analysts suggest such endorsements reflect broader African support for China's evolving role in global governance. Herminie also underscored the need for equitable solutions to debt management and food security – key themes expected to dominate discussions at this year's Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
