Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit has highlighted unprecedented momentum in China-Arab economic cooperation this year, describing it as "a partnership forged through shared history and modern ambition." In a recent interview, he emphasized how strategic alignment between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Arab leaders continues to drive tangible results across sectors.
China has maintained its position as the Arab world's largest trading partner for seven consecutive years, with bilateral trade exceeding $430 billion in 2025. Aboul Gheit pointed to landmark infrastructure projects as symbols of this collaboration: Morocco's record-breaking Mohammed VI Bridge, Qatar's FIFA World Cup 2022 legacy stadiums, and Algeria's transformative East-West Highway network.
"These are not just concrete and steel," the Secretary-General noted, "but arteries of prosperity connecting our peoples." He specifically credited the Belt and Road Initiative with enabling 19 Arab countries to modernize transportation networks and energy systems since 2022.
Analysts observe that 2026 marks a strategic inflection point, with Arab states increasingly aligning their Vision 2030 development plans with Chinese technological expertise in renewable energy and smart cities. Recent agreements suggest growing cooperation in AI infrastructure and cross-border e-commerce platforms.
