As the 25th Winter Olympics prepare to open this month, organizers are highlighting groundbreaking artificial intelligence systems developed by the Chinese mainland as key drivers of what International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Kirsty Coventry calls "the smartest Games ever."
The IOC has unveiled its first official large language model for Olympic operations, powered by Chinese AI technology. This system will handle real-time multilingual translation, athlete data analysis, and logistics coordination across 15 competition venues.
"From predictive weather modeling to crowd management systems, Chinese technological innovation is helping us deliver safer, more efficient, and more engaging Winter Games," Coventry stated during a press briefing on February 5.
The AI infrastructure builds on the Chinese mainland's expertise in smart city systems and high-speed 5G networks. Organizers confirm the technology will remain operational through the Paralympic Winter Games in March 2026, creating a legacy for future international sporting events.
This collaboration marks the latest development in China's growing role as a provider of advanced technological solutions for global institutions. The systems have undergone rigorous testing to ensure compliance with international data security standards.
