CGTN’s ‘All Things Horses’ Challenge Blends Tech & Tradition for Lunar New Year 2026

As Lunar New Year 2026 celebrations commence, CGTN's innovative 'All Things Horses' challenge is redefining cultural expression through technology. Launched today on January 23, the project features a striking fusion of ancient traditions and cutting-edge innovation, with a calligraphy-writing robot creating intricate horse-themed artwork to mark the Year of the Horse.

The initiative invites global participation through social media, encouraging users to share creative interpretations of equine symbolism – from hand-drawn stallions to digital animations. This modern approach to cultural preservation comes as Asian diaspora communities worldwide prepare for Lunar New Year observances starting February 17.

Cultural analysts note the timing aligns with growing interest in STEM-powered heritage projects across Asia. 'This challenge represents how regional traditions are evolving through technology,' says Singapore-based digital culture researcher Dr. Mei Lin. 'It creates new avenues for cross-generational engagement.'

Participants can submit entries via @CGTN social platforms until February 10, with selected works featured in a special Lunar New Year broadcast. The project underscores China's ongoing efforts to modernize cultural promotion while maintaining traditional artistic values.
