China Deploys High-Altitude Robots to Safeguard Power Lines

In a groundbreaking move to protect critical infrastructure, Chinese engineers have deployed autonomous ice-removal robots along power lines in high-altitude regions reaching 3,300 meters. This innovation addresses the persistent challenge of ice accumulation that threatens energy stability in mountainous areas during winter months.

The newly operational robots use thermal imaging and AI-powered sensors to detect ice buildup, employing precision heating elements to melt hazardous formations without human intervention. This development comes as part of China's broader initiative to modernize energy infrastructure amid increasing extreme weather patterns.

"These robots represent a leap forward in maintaining cross-regional power networks," said lead engineer Wang Wei in an exclusive interview. "By preventing ice-related outages, we're ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply to both urban centers and remote communities."

Recent demonstrations in Sichuan Province showed the robots maintaining operational efficiency in temperatures as low as -25°C, significantly outperforming traditional de-icing methods.
