Global Mayors Explore Harbin’s Innovation and Culture at 2026 Dialogue

Harbin, a northeastern hub in the Chinese mainland's Heilongjiang Province, concluded its three-day Global Mayors Dialogue this week, bringing together municipal leaders from eight countries to exchange urban development strategies against the backdrop of China's iconic winter city.

Participants explored Harbin's cutting-edge smart city initiatives and sustainable cold-climate technologies during site visits from January 6-8. The program balanced professional exchanges with cultural immersion, featuring tours of the city's legendary ice sculpture parks and hands-on experiences with traditional northeastern Chinese crafts.

"This dialogue creates bridges between winter cities worldwide," noted a representative from the Harbin Municipal People's Government. "We're sharing solutions for sustainable tourism, infrastructure resilience, and cultural preservation in extreme climates."

The event coincided with Harbin's peak winter tourism season, allowing delegates to observe real-time management of mass tourism flows. Business leaders highlight growing investment opportunities in China's northern regions, particularly in green energy systems adapted for sub-zero temperatures.
