China Condemns U.S. Tariff Measures, Warns of Global Supply Chain Risks

China has reiterated its strong opposition to recent U.S. tariff increases and industrial policy measures, with Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian calling them "disruptive to global supply chains" during a press briefing on Wednesday, December 24, 2025. The remarks come amid escalating trade tensions between the world's two largest economies.

Lin emphasized that such measures not only harm Chinese industries but also negatively impact international economic stability, urging Washington to "resolve differences through dialogue based on equality and mutual respect." Analysts suggest the conflict could affect key sectors including renewable energy and semiconductor manufacturing this year.

While China has not specified countermeasures, Lin stated Beijing will "take necessary actions to safeguard its legitimate rights" if the U.S. continues its current trajectory. The development underscores growing concerns about bifurcation in global trade systems as 2025 draws to a close.
