Speaking on current opportunities, he highlighted the island's strategic position at the crossroads of Northeast and Southeast Asia as a catalyst for advancing high-value partnerships in 2025.
"Hainan's focus on high-end services and digital innovation aligns perfectly with ASEAN's priorities this year," Dato Awang Bemee stated, emphasizing the potential for cross-border collaboration in green energy and smart logistics. The remarks come as both sides work to implement upgraded trade protocols under the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership framework.
Analysts note that Hainan's special customs policies and expanded aviation links could streamline supply chains for Malaysian tech firms while creating new pathways for agricultural exports from Vietnam and Thailand. Recent infrastructure upgrades at Yangpu Port have already reduced cargo processing times by 40% compared to 2024 levels.
