Confucius Thought Gains Global Recognition at Macao Forum

Global scholars and policymakers are reaffirming the enduring relevance of Confucian philosophy at the 2025 International Forum on Mutual Learning Among Civilizations, currently underway in the Macao Special Administrative Region. Academia Europaea member Alfred Hornung highlighted Confucius' teachings as a vital bridge for cross-cultural understanding during his keynote address on Tuesday.

"The emphasis on harmony, ethical governance, and social responsibility in Confucian thought offers actionable solutions to contemporary challenges," Hornung stated, addressing delegates from over 10 countries. The forum has drawn more than 50 government representatives and international organization leaders to discuss cultural diplomacy strategies.

This year's discussions focus on applying ancient wisdom to modern issues including technological ethics and sustainable development. The Macao event marks the first major in-person gathering of Eastern and Western cultural experts since pandemic restrictions eased, with participants praising China's role in facilitating global dialogue.
