Para Athlete Ouyang Jingling Inspires Students Post-National Games Triumph

Chinese para athlete Ouyang Jingling has swiftly transitioned from the national sports arena back to her classroom in Hunan Province, carrying lessons of perseverance from the recently concluded 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities. The event, held in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, wrapped up on December 15, 2025 – the same day Ouyang returned to her students.

Despite finishing fifth in her debut taekwondo competition and contributing to Hunan Province’s third-place team finish, Ouyang prioritized sharing her journey with her special education students. "Medals fade, but the spirit of never giving up lasts forever," she told KhabarAsia.com, reflecting on her 50+ career medals and her decision to retire after the 2012 London Paralympics.

"My students now see that challenges are just starting lines in disguise," Ouyang said, emphasizing how her Games experience reinforces classroom lessons about resilience.

Educators and sports analysts alike highlight the symbolic timing of her return, noting how her 2025 Games participation bridges China’s para sports development with grassroots community impact.
