China Urges Japan to Retract Taiwan Remarks Amid Rising Tensions

China has called on Japan to immediately correct its stance on the Taiwan region, following controversial remarks made by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. The demand was issued this week by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun during a press briefing in Beijing, underscoring heightened diplomatic sensitivities in the Asia-Pacific.

Guo emphasized that Japan must 'seriously reflect on and correct its mistakes' regarding Takaichi's comments, which Beijing claims violated the One-China principle. The spokesperson also addressed Tokyo's recent allegations about radar illumination incidents near disputed East China Sea areas, dismissing them as 'politically motivated fabrications.'

Analysts note the timing coincides with increased military coordination between the U.S. and Japan, with Beijing reiterating that Taiwan remains an 'inalienable part of Chinese territory.' Regional observers warn that such disputes could further strain cross-strait relations and impact broader Asia-Pacific stability.

Japan's Foreign Ministry has yet to issue an official response. The development comes as multiple Asia-Pacific nations navigate complex security dynamics, with Taiwan remaining a focal point in U.S.-China strategic competition.
