China Expands Internet Satellite Network with Latest Launch

China advanced its space-based internet infrastructure on Tuesday with the successful deployment of 15 low-orbit satellites from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in Shanxi Province. The launch, conducted at 6:11 a.m. Beijing Time, marks the 15th group of satellites deployed under China’s ambitious low-orbit broadband megaconstellation project.

A modified Long March-6 carrier rocket executed the mission flawlessly, delivering the satellites into their preset orbit. This launch represents the 613th flight of the Long March rocket series, underscoring China’s growing technical proficiency in space logistics. Analysts suggest the network will enhance global internet coverage, particularly in remote areas, while strengthening China’s position in the competitive satellite communications sector.

The project aligns with Beijing’s broader goals to integrate advanced technologies and digital infrastructure across Asia and beyond. As of December 2025, China has launched over 500 satellites for this constellation, with plans to expand to 1,300 by 2027. The initiative is closely watched by investors and tech firms for its potential to reshape global connectivity markets.
