A devastating fire at Hong Kong's Wang Fuk Court residential complex has claimed 128 lives as of Friday, November 28, 2025, with authorities warning the death toll may still rise. The blaze, which began Wednesday evening, was fully extinguished after 36 hours of intensive firefighting operations by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Fire Services Department.
Over 500 displaced residents are currently housed in nine temporary shelters established by the HKSAR government. Relief efforts have mobilized multiple departments and community organizations to provide emergency supplies, medical assistance, and psychological support services.
An HKSAR government spokesperson stated: "This tragedy has united our community in grief and response. We're coordinating closely with all stakeholders to ensure affected residents receive comprehensive care while initiating a thorough investigation into the fire's cause."
