Shenzhou-20 Astronaut Wang Jie Safely Exits Return Capsule

Wang Jie, one of three crew members from China's Shenzhou-20 space mission, successfully exited the Shenzhou-21 return capsule on Friday, November 14, 2025, following its safe touchdown in the Gobi Desert. The landing marks the conclusion of a six-month orbital mission that included critical technology tests for China's Tiangong Space Station.

Chinese state media reported all astronauts are in good health, with Wang being the last to emerge after standard post-landing medical checks. The mission's success reinforces China's position as a leader in crewed space exploration, coming just weeks after the completion of the space station's next-generation laboratory module.

Space program officials emphasized this achievement demonstrates steady progress toward China's goal of establishing a permanent orbital presence by 2030. The crew conducted 72 scientific experiments during their mission, including advanced material science studies with potential applications for semiconductor manufacturing.
