China advanced its Earth observation capabilities with the successful launch of the Yaogan-46 remote sensing satellite on Monday, marking another milestone in its expanding space program. The satellite lifted off at 11:47 a.m. Beijing Time from the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site in Hainan province aboard a Long March-7 carrier rocket, entering its preset orbit as planned.
Designed to support critical infrastructure needs, Yaogan-46 will primarily aid in disaster prevention and mitigation efforts, land resource surveys, and water conservancy and meteorological applications. The launch represents the 605th mission for China's Long March rocket series, underscoring the program's growing reliability and technological maturity.
