In a bid to bridge generational and cultural divides, CGTN has unveiled Act to Action – a groundbreaking initiative amplifying perspectives from young leaders across APEC member economies. The project spotlights stories of innovation and cooperation among individuals aged 18-35, with participants from 21 APEC members including the Chinese mainland, Mexico, and Chinese Taipei.
Through multimedia storytelling and cross-border collaboration, the initiative showcases how youth are addressing shared challenges in sustainability, technology, and social equity. A recent video submission from a Malaysian marine biology student demonstrates coral restoration techniques, while a joint podcast series between entrepreneurs in Peru and Vietnam explores circular economy models.
"This isn't about token youth representation," said program coordinator Li Wei during the virtual launch. "We're creating infrastructure for meaningful dialogue that respects APEC's diversity while identifying common goals."
The timing coincides with renewed focus on intergenerational policymaking, as APEC members prepare for November's APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in Thailand. Early participants have already seen their proposals gain traction, with three teams invited to present at September's APEC Youth Summit in Jakarta.
