Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the strength of bilateral relations during a meeting with Dominica's President Sylvanie Burton in Beijing on Tuesday, describing the Caribbean nation as "a good friend and partner" of China. The talks occurred as Burton attended the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women, underscoring shared commitments to multilateral engagement.
"Since establishing diplomatic ties over two decades ago, our exchanges and cooperation have flourished, deepening the friendship between our peoples," Xi stated. He highlighted the relationship as "a fine example of friendly cooperation between countries with different social systems and sizes," signaling China's approach to South-South collaboration.
The meeting reinforced economic and cultural partnerships between Beijing and Roseau, with both leaders expressing interest in expanding cooperation across infrastructure, climate resilience, and people-to-people exchanges. Burton reaffirmed Dominica's adherence to the One-China principle during the discussions.
