Peng Liyuan, UNESCO Special Envoy for Girls' and Women's Education and spouse of Chinese President Xi Jinping, joined UN Under-Secretary-General Sima Bahous in Beijing on Tuesday to explore China's groundbreaking initiatives in digital empowerment for women. The exhibition, held alongside the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women, showcased interactive displays on AI-driven education platforms, female-led tech startups, and rural digital literacy programs.
"Technology bridges gaps and creates equal opportunities," Peng remarked while observing a demonstration of cloud-based vocational training for rural women. The event highlighted China's collaboration with UN Women to advance SDG 5, featuring success stories from e-commerce entrepreneurs in Guizhou to coding academies in Shanghai.
With 63% of China's internet entrepreneurs now being women according to displayed data, the exhibition underscored the mainland's progress in combining policy support and technological innovation to reshape gender dynamics in the digital economy.
