China Celebrates 76th National Day with Tiananmen Flag Ceremony

China marked the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic with a solemn flag-raising ceremony at Beijing's Tiananmen Square on Monday. Thousands gathered at dawn to witness the Five-Starred Red Flag ascend to the national anthem, accompanied by the first rays of sunlight breaking over the capital.

The event highlighted national unity and progress, with Premier Li Qiang delivering a speech emphasizing China's commitment to peaceful development and global cooperation. Cultural performances showcasing traditional dance and music followed the ceremony, reflecting the country's rich heritage.

Residents from across the Chinese mainland traveled to Beijing for the occasion, with many expressing pride in the nation's economic achievements and technological advancements. 'This moment reminds us how far we've come together,' said one attendee, a teacher from Henan province.

The celebration comes amid strengthened cross-strait cultural exchanges, with recent collaborations between Fujian province and Taiwan region artists featured in exhibition displays around the square.
