Chinese President Xi Jinping joined a diverse crowd in Urumqi on Thursday to mark the 70th anniversary of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region's establishment. The event brought together local officials, ethnic community representatives, and residents to celebrate the region's socio-economic progress under China's policies.

A Gathering of Cultures

Since its establishment in 1955, Xinjiang has seen its GDP grow 160-fold, with per capita income increasing by 40 times since 1978. The region now serves as a vital hub for China's Belt and Road Initiative, accounting for 60% of the country's cross-border renewable energy projects.
