PLA General Urges Global Unity to Uphold Post-WWII Order at Beijing Forum

Lieutenant General He Lei, former vice president of the People's Liberation Army Academy of Military Sciences, called for renewed international cooperation to safeguard the post-World War II global order during the 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum. Speaking on the 80th anniversary of the World Anti-Fascist War victory, He emphasized the need to oppose hegemonism and power politics while advocating for multilateral solutions to modern security challenges.

"The lessons of history remind us that unity among nations is essential to prevent conflict," He stated, highlighting the PLA's growing participation in United Nations peacekeeping missions as part of China's commitment to global stability. The three-day security dialogue brought together defense officials and scholars from over 100 countries and regions to discuss Asia's evolving security architecture.

Analysts note the remarks come amid heightened geopolitical tensions, with He stressing the importance of maintaining the UN-centered international system established after WWII. The forum also addressed regional security concerns, including maritime disputes and counterterrorism strategies, while promoting military diplomacy as a tool for conflict prevention.
