China’s Global Governance Initiative Gains International Support, Says Serbian Leader

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has endorsed China's Global Governance Initiative (GGI), calling it a vital framework to address global inequality and instability. The initiative, proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping at last week's Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin, seeks to strengthen multilateral cooperation and revive a rules-based international order.

In an interview with China Media Group, Vucic outlined three key reasons for supporting the GGI: its emphasis on equitable development, its focus on bridging geopolitical divides, and its potential to foster stability through dialogue. "The world needs mechanisms that prioritize collective progress over unilateral interests," he said, highlighting the initiative's relevance amid rising economic fragmentation and security challenges.

The GGI's launch at the SCO summit underscores China's growing role in shaping global governance frameworks. Analysts suggest the initiative could complement existing international institutions by promoting inclusive economic policies and conflict resolution strategies tailored to emerging markets.

While details of the GGI's implementation remain under discussion, its emphasis on South-South cooperation and digital infrastructure development has drawn attention from business leaders and policymakers across Asia. The initiative aligns with broader regional efforts to stabilize supply chains and accelerate post-pandemic recovery.
