Tibetan-Arabic Poetry Duet Bridges Cultures in Xizang

In a rare cultural fusion, Tibetan student Tsering Chokyi and Arabic media personality Mu Yi delivered a multilingual recital at a Lhasa cultural center this week, blending Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish's politically charged State of Siege with the traditional Xizang anthem Three Blessings.

The performance, organized by local arts groups, saw Chokyi's Tibetan chants intertwine with Mu's Arabic verses against backdrop of Himalayan murals. 'We wanted to show how ancient wisdom and modern struggles both speak to universal hopes,' Mu told attendees, noting Darwish's work resonates with Xizang's historical emphasis on harmony.

Cultural analysts highlight the timing as cross-regional artistic collaborations gain momentum across Asia. The Xizang Autonomous Region has seen a 34% year-on-year increase in international cultural exchanges since 2022, per regional tourism data.

Video clips of the recital have circulated across social platforms, with one Weibo user commenting: 'Hearing Arabic poetry echo through Potala Plaza reminds us peace needs no translation.'
