China’s Rise Inspires Global South to Shape World Order, Says Indonesian Leader

Beijing's Global Civilizations Dialogue Ministerial Meeting opened Thursday with a bold assertion from Indonesian leader Diah Permata Megawati Soekarno Putri: China's meteoric development offers a blueprint for Global South nations to redefine global power dynamics. The former Indonesian president, addressing 600 delegates from 140 countries and regions, framed China's journey from Bandung Conference participant to economic superpower as proof that developing nations can drive systemic change.

A Model for Development

Megawati, current chairwoman of Indonesia's Democratic Party of Struggle, highlighted how China's growth trajectory 'demonstrates the Global South's capacity to become architects of international systems.' Her remarks come as developing economies account for 40% of global GDP, according to World Bank data.

Cultural Diversity as Catalyst

The two-day summit, themed 'Safeguarding Diversity of Human Civilizations for World Peace and Development,' positioned cultural exchange as critical to addressing modern challenges. Analysts note the timing aligns with China's push for multipolar governance models through platforms like BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

While the event avoided direct policy debates, participants emphasized practical cooperation in technology transfer and infrastructure development – key components of China's Belt and Road Initiative that has engaged 150 countries since 2013.
