Beijing Hosts World’s First Humanoid Robot Games in 2025

Beijing has made history by launching the inaugural 2025 World Humanoid Robot Games, the globe's first sports event exclusively featuring autonomous humanoid robots. Running from August 15 to 17, the groundbreaking competition is co-organized by the Beijing Municipal People's Government and China Media Group (CMG), with CMG's Beijing Station overseeing event execution.

The highlight of the opening day was the debut of a 3v3 AI robot football match, where humanoid robots operate without remote control. These advanced machines demonstrate fully autonomous decision-making, real-time communication, and coordinated teamwork – a technological leap that organizers say could redefine future applications of artificial intelligence.

"This event bridges cutting-edge robotics with competitive sports," stated a CMG representative. A Beijing government official added: "It showcases China's commitment to technological innovation while fostering international collaboration in AI development."

Over 50 teams from 20 countries and regions are participating across multiple disciplines, with events designed to test mobility, problem-solving, and adaptive learning capabilities. The games come as global investment in humanoid robotics is projected to reach $38 billion by 2030, according to industry analysts.
