An international workshop advancing the future of dental care concluded this month at Sichuan University's West China School of Stomatology, bringing together 20 specialists from 13 Belt and Road partner countries. The event, supported by China's Ministry of Science and Technology, spotlighted transformative technologies reshaping oral healthcare worldwide.
Participants engaged with AI-assisted diagnostic systems capable of detecting cavities with 92% accuracy, practiced CAD/CAM digital restoration techniques, and explored breakthroughs in pulp regeneration therapies. The program emphasized hands-on training with minimally invasive equipment shown to reduce patient recovery times by up to 40%.
Dr. Li Wei, the workshop's lead coordinator, noted: "This exchange creates ripples far beyond our lab – from Vietnamese dentists adapting AI triage systems to Egyptian researchers collaborating on biomaterials development." The initiative aligns with China's broader efforts to share technological expertise through Belt and Road partnerships.
With participants from Indonesia, Iran, and Hungary among others, the workshop established a cross-border network for ongoing clinical trials and data sharing. Next year's edition will expand to include 30 countries, reflecting growing global demand for precision dentistry solutions.
