China-Europe Freight Train Hits Milestone from Shijiazhuang Hub

A China-Europe freight train departed Shijiazhuang International Land Port on Wednesday, marking a new chapter for the Hebei Province logistics hub as it surpassed 150,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of cargo handled. The latest shipment will traverse through Erenhot before reaching Moscow, reinforcing trade connectivity between Asia and Europe.

Since launching its first cross-continental rail service in June 2018, Shijiazhuang has expanded to operate seven weekly trains across 18 routes serving 50 countries. Officials describe the TEU milestone as evidence of growing demand for reliable overland trade corridors amid global supply chain shifts.

"This achievement reflects our role in stabilizing industrial chains and supporting multinational cooperation," said a port representative, highlighting the route\u2019s importance for electronics, machinery, and agricultural shipments. Analysts note the expansion aligns with China\u2019s broader Belt and Road infrastructure initiatives, offering businesses cost-effective alternatives to maritime transport.
