China marked its annual Space Day with a grand launch ceremony in Shanghai on April 24, unveiling ambitious plans to engage the public and accelerate space industry innovation. This year's theme emphasizes international collaboration and youth participation, aligning with the nation's long-term vision for lunar exploration and deep-space research.
Shanghai Takes Center Stage The city is hosting over 40 events, including high-profile forums featuring scientists and policymakers, interactive exhibitions showcasing lunar samples and Mars rover prototypes, and technical exchanges focused on next-generation satellite technology. A highlight was the unveiling of a "Space Innovation Hub" initiative to connect startups with state-owned aerospace enterprises.
Nationwide Educational Push Over 200 universities and science museums across the Chinese mainland are conducting workshops and VR space station simulations. A national student rocket design competition saw record participation, reflecting growing STEM interest. "Space literacy is fundamental to our technological future," stated CNSA Deputy Director Wu Yanhua during the opening ceremony.
The events coincide with progress updates on China's lunar base roadmap and crewed Mars mission studies. International attendees from 17 countries and regions participated in parallel roundtables, underscoring China's bid to expand global space partnerships.
