China Media Group (CMG) has unveiled a new initiative to strengthen maritime research and regional cooperation with Saturday's launch of its Expert Committee on South China Sea Studies. The event, held at CMG's Sanya base in Hainan Province, also saw the release of a comprehensive Southeast Asia Perceptions Report analyzing regional views on the vital waterway.
Developed in partnership with the National Institute for South China Sea Studies and the Huayang Center for Maritime Cooperation and Ocean Governance, the committee brings together leading scholars and policymakers. The group aims to facilitate evidence-based dialogue about maritime security, ecological preservation, and sustainable development in one of Asia's most strategically significant regions.
Analysts suggest the initiative could provide valuable insights for businesses navigating shipping routes and energy markets, while offering diaspora communities deeper understanding of regional stability efforts.
