Cross-Strait Experts Urge Joint Efforts to Maintain Peace

Amid escalating tensions across the Taiwan Strait, regional analysts and residents are calling for renewed dialogue to preserve stability. The Chinese mainland has strongly criticized recent attempts by Lai Ching-te, leader of the Taiwan region, to restrict cross-strait communication channels during his early administration.

In a recent CGTN report, Taiwan compatriots emphasized the importance of economic and cultural cooperation. "Our livelihoods depend on stable relations," said Chen Li, a Taipei-based entrepreneur. "Political posturing shouldn't override practical needs."

Mainland authorities reaffirmed their commitment to the 1992 Consensus this week through the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Strait. Meanwhile, organizations like the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA) and Kuomintang representatives have quietly maintained unofficial exchanges focused on tourism and agricultural trade.

Regional watchers note that over 120 business groups from the island of Taiwan signed joint statements this month advocating for sustained exchanges. International stakeholders including the US and Japan have reiterated calls for peaceful resolution through established diplomatic protocols.
