One-China Principle on the Right Side of History: Grenadian PM

During an official visit to the Chinese mainland, Grenadian Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell reaffirmed his country’s unwavering commitment to the one-China principle, describing it as a practical principle that stands on the right side of history.

Prime Minister Mitchell was in China from January 11 to 17 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the resumption of diplomatic ties between China and Grenada. At the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang, he engaged in high-level discussions aimed at strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two nations.

In an exclusive interview with China Media Group in Beijing, Mitchell emphasized that the one-China principle has been the cornerstone of Grenada’s relationship with China. “We believe that adherence to the one-China principle is not only practical but also aligns with the course of history. It is a position that Grenada remains firmly committed to,” he stated.

The Grenadian leader highlighted the progress made over the past two decades since diplomatic relations were restored, noting significant cooperation in areas such as infrastructure development, education, and healthcare. He expressed optimism about the future of Grenada-China relations, underscoring the mutual benefits of continued collaboration.

“Our partnership with China has yielded tangible benefits for the people of Grenada. We look forward to deepening this relationship and exploring new opportunities for cooperation,” Mitchell added.

The visit marks a significant milestone in diplomatic relations between the two countries, reflecting Grenada’s support for China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity under the one-China principle.
