China-Europe Freight Trains Complete Record 19,000 Trips in 2024

The China-Europe freight rail service marked a significant milestone in 2024 by completing 19,000 train trips, representing a 10% increase compared to the previous year. This robust growth underscores the escalating demand for rail-based trade routes between Asia and Europe.

The trains transported over 2 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) of cargo, a 9% year-on-year rise, highlighting the efficiency and reliability of the service. Since its launch in 2011 as a flagship program under the Belt and Road Initiative, the China-Europe freight rail network has become a crucial artery for international trade.

Expanding its reach, the service now connects 227 cities across 25 European countries and over 100 cities in 11 Asian countries. This extensive network facilitates the movement of goods ranging from automotive parts and electronics to agricultural products, fostering economic ties and mutual growth between regions.

The continuous growth of the China-Europe freight rail service reflects the strengthening economic partnerships and the shared commitment to enhancing connectivity across continents. It not only offers a faster alternative to sea freight but also contributes to the development of sustainable and efficient trade corridors.

As global trade dynamics evolve, the China-Europe freight rail service is poised to play an even more significant role in promoting economic development and cultural exchange between Asia and Europe, benefiting businesses and communities along its routes.
