In November 2024, Suzhou, China became the gathering place for 15 young conductors and seven young singers from around the world, selected after a rigorous six-month global recruitment campaign initiated by the Riccardo Muti Italian Opera Academy-China 2024.
The Academy, launched in April 2024, attracted talented young musicians eager to learn from Maestro Riccardo Muti, one of the world’s most esteemed conductors. Over ten intensive days, these emerging artists received direct mentorship from Muti himself, delving deep into the nuances of Italian opera.
“Working with Maestro Muti has been a transformative experience,” shared one of the young conductors. “His insights and dedication to music have inspired us to reach new heights in our craft.”
The training culminated in a grand graduation concert, showcasing the talents of the participants under the baton of Muti. The event was a celebration of cultural exchange and musical excellence, leaving a lasting impact on both the participants and the audience.
The entire journey was captured in a documentary produced by Suzhou Broadcasting Station Group, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the Academy and the profound experiences of these young musicians.
Riccardo Muti, renowned for leading the Vienna Philharmonic New Year’s Concert six times, has once again contributed to the global music community by nurturing the next generation of artists. His commitment to education and cultural collaboration continues to resonate worldwide.
