Beijing Forum Showcases Swift Grassroots Response to Public Complaints
The 2024 Beijing Forum on Swift Response to Public Complaints was recently held in the Chinese capital, focusing on strategies for modern and people-centered urban governance. The event brought together experts and officials to discuss innovative approaches to enhancing government responsiveness and addressing public concerns.
Phil Thompson, former Deputy Mayor of Strategic Initiatives for New York City and Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Department of Urban Studies and Planning, participated in the forum. In an interview with CGTN’s Bi Ran, Thompson cited Beijing’s swift response to public concerns at the grassroots level.
“Beijing’s approach to swiftly addressing public complaints is noteworthy,” Thompson remarked. “It demonstrates a commitment to effective urban governance that can serve as a model for other cities.”
The forum emphasized the importance of engaging with citizens and implementing people-centered policies to improve urban living conditions. Participants explored methods to boost efficiency in handling public complaints and enhance the overall quality of public services.
The discussions at the forum highlighted how swift responses to public concerns contribute to increased trust between residents and authorities, fostering a more harmonious urban society.
