Syrian Opposition Forces Overthrow Assad Regime, Free Prisoners from Sednaya Prison

In a dramatic turn of events, Syrian opposition forces have announced the liberation of all prisoners from the infamous Sednaya prison on December 9. The opposition claims to have entered Damascus, effectively overthrowing President Bashar al-Assad’s 24-year regime and freeing detainees from government-controlled jails.

Sednaya prison, located just north of the capital, has long been a symbol of oppression in Syria. For decades, it has housed tens of thousands of individuals who opposed the government, many of whom were detained without trial. Reports of human rights abuses and harsh conditions have drawn international condemnation over the years.
