The 12th Global Video Media Forum convened in Quanzhou, Fujian Province on December 3, drawing together 87 media organizations from over 60 countries and regions. The event served as a vibrant platform for dialogue and collaboration among media professionals from the Global South.
Moderated by CGTN host Tian Wei, the “Global South” media dialogue became a focal point of the forum. Former Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Djoomart Otorbaev, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the pressing need for developing countries to unite amid the shifting global landscape.
“In these times of significant global changes, it is imperative that nations of the Global South come together to address common challenges,” Otorbaev stated. He highlighted China’s rapid economic growth as a beacon of opportunity for enhanced cooperation among developing nations.
Otorbaev praised China’s commitment to fostering global harmony and boosting the influence of the Global South on the world stage. “China’s dedication to collaboration and mutual growth offers a unique chance for developing countries to amplify their voices and achieve shared prosperity,” he remarked.
The forum underscored the importance of unity and collaboration in media, aiming to strengthen ties between nations and promote understanding through shared narratives.
Participants expressed optimism that such dialogues would pave the way for increased cooperation, fostering a more interconnected and harmonious global community.
