China’s B-Girl Royal Crowned World Breaking Champion in Historic Win

In a groundbreaking moment for Chinese urban sports, 17-year-old Guo Pu, performing as B-Girl Royal, secured China’s first-ever gold medal at the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) World Breaking Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, on December 14, 2025. Defeating a field dominated by Japanese competitors, Guo’s victory marks a pivotal shift in the global breaking scene.

The Shandong-born athlete showcased remarkable resilience, advancing through preliminary rounds before defeating five-time Japanese contenders in knockout stages. Her final showdown against 42-year-old veteran Ayumi Fukushima (B-Girl Ayumi) highlighted a clash of generations, with Guo’s explosive power moves and precise footwork earning unanimous judges’ approval.

Guo’s triumph eclipses China’s previous best performances – back-to-back silver medals by compatriot Liu Qingyi (B-Girl 671) in 2022 and 2024. The win not only elevates China’s status in this Olympic-recognized sport but also signals the rapid growth of youth-driven urban culture across Asia.

With breaking set to debut at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, Guo’s victory positions China as a serious contender in the sport’s global future. Industry analysts suggest this achievement could accelerate investment in China’s street dance infrastructure and youth training programs.
