Iran Commits to Swift U.S. Talks, Urges Sanctions Relief

Iran has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing negotiations with the United States during recent diplomatic efforts in Rome and Muscat, emphasizing urgency in resolving longstanding disputes over sanctions and nuclear activities. Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi told lawmakers in Tehran that Tehran seeks 'no delay' in talks aimed at reviving the 2015 nuclear accord while defending its 'red line' on uranium enrichment rights.

Sunday's parliamentary briefing revealed both sides agreed on a framework for technical discussions during April's indirect talks in Italy, following an earlier round in Oman. The negotiations address U.S. sanctions impacting Iran's economy and verification measures for Tehran's nuclear program under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

The diplomatic push comes amid heightened regional tensions following recent U.S. threats. While Washington and Tehran both describe the talks as 'constructive,' significant obstacles remain. Iran maintains that economic benefits from sanctions relief must be immediately verifiable, while Western governments seek assurances about nuclear non-proliferation.

The JCPOA, originally involving China, Russia, France, Germany, the UK, and the U.S., has faced major challenges since America's 2018 withdrawal. Analysts suggest renewed dialogue could stabilize global energy markets and ease Middle East tensions, though timelines for concrete progress remain unclear.
